North Coast Football has appointed Coffs City United Lions' number one shot stopper as goalkeeping coach for 2010. Josh Wiseman, one of the best keepers in the NCFZ men's 1st division, has accepted the position following the departure last year of Dave Curley who held the role for a number of years.

Wiseman's main responsibility will be to train the current crop of young goalkeepers who play for NCF in the Youth League competition. He met the young glove-wearers for the first time on Wednesday night as training proceeded in the drizzle.

The NCF Youth League teams head to Lake Macquarie this weekend for their first match of the rep season, so Wiseman was only able to have one session with the 'keepers before they are in action.

"It was only a light run," Wiseman said afterwards. "They are young, fit and passionate about the game so they will be fun to work with," Wiseman said.

Wiseman has only just returned to the training paddock himself having spent some time out of the area on holidays. Wiseman returns to find himself not only in a new role, but his own team playing at a new venue and with a new Coach.

"It's going to be an enjoyable year," Wiseman said. "I have asked the young 'keepers to think about any specific areas they wish to work on over the season. That way we can tailor the training sessions to their needs, but I suppose we won't really know what to work on until they start playing and that begins this weekend, so it will be interesting to see how they go in Newcastle," Wiseman added.

NCF Youth League teams play Macquarie Football this Sunday at Speers Point.
